Walking and Talking up a storm

So much has been going on around here lately!! Sydney is now walking on her own for up to 9 or 10 steps at a time before falling or grabbing on to something. She is so excited and so are we, hence the cheering that has been going on around here! She has also been busy trying to practice standing up by herself which is so cute to watch. Kiley is not far behind her and can walk easily holding on to just one of our hands and watches Sydney with interest so it's only a matter of time.

Sydney had her first outing with Nan and had a blast walking around the park and having a picnic dinner. Kiley and I went to the mall for some shopping and for dinner. Afterwards we headed to the park to swing and walk around which I can't usually do with both girls so it was lots of fun!

Sydney and Kiley have both been chatting up a storm lately. The second they wake up it starts and doesn't break for anything! We only wish we could translate some of it to English.....

Nana and Grandpa bought them a fire truck ride on toy for Christmas and they are loving it right now. They have been taking turns riding and pushing the other around. It is beyond sweet! Kiley dances to the music by shimmying her shoulders and bopping her head, it is hysterical!

As soon as they wake up they want on it.

They are so into books lately and we have been reading nonstop. Sheila and Jodi came to visit from Vernon and brought them some new books so Mr. Brown can Moo is their new favorite-thanks guys!

They also had their first bubble bath and were fascinated with the bubbles in the water. They normally like to drink half the tub so they weren't impressed by the new "flavor" but with two in the tub, drinking the water probably isn't the best idea anyways....

Poor Kiera, the danger in hanging out under the girls highchairs is that you may have to walk around the rest of the day with a cheerio on your back!

Quick trip to Vernon

We were so looking forward to our trip to Vernon on Saturday that it was such a shame that the girls were so cranky!! Kiley had been up all night with an upset tummy and kept waking Sydney up, then they didn't want a morning nap after a long car ride so things went downhill from there. We did manage to take them in the little pool and the big pool at Dale and Wendy's and we even played on the grass with all of their cousin Devyn's fun playthings but they were just not themselves and after a too short afternoon nap we decided to head home early. It was a good try though!

Daddy teaching Kiley to boogie board

Wish we had a big pool Dad

Jarett jumps in the little pool with the girls

Carla stopped by to visit and give Jayden's poor feet a massage after a tough week of hockey school-lucky guy! Inez came for a visit too and we just wish the girls were feeling more social...

Weigh-ins and walking...

The girls had their one year shots and weigh in's last week and are growing like weeds!! Sydney especially as she is in the 97th percentile for height and Kiley is in the 10th. The difference between them is slowly growing and we can't wait to see if that stays the same over the next few years. They have about 2.5 pounds and about 2.5 inches between them now! They took their needles like brave little soldiers though (or so I am told as Dad went in with each of them :) and no side effects so far.

We have been so happy to have Dad home for the last 2 weeks and will be very sad to have him leave for work tomorrow night :( We kept busy over his holidays with some work and some fun times at the cabin and the same for around the house. We switched the office and the nursery around this week to give the girls a bigger room to play in. Dave had a stomach bug and still managed to paint two whole rooms, trim and a closet. What a trooper! We will post pictures soon.

For MUCH more exciting news.....Kiley took her first step on Monday and has since taken one or two here and there and is trying so hard to get going on her own. Sydney is not in as big of a rush as she loves the time spent walking with Mom, Dad, Nan, Auntie or anyone really! She is steadier on her feet though and when Nan came over last night she was so excited she forgot that she "couldn't" walk and took two steps to Nan. I still don't think she even knows that she did it! It won't be long before we are on BIG trouble.

Kiley had her first trip to Nana and Grandpa's on her own yesterday and came home glowing! Nana picked her up after work and they went home for dinner and ?.... (what happens at Nana and Grandpa's stays at Nana and Grandpa's or so I am told :) Sydney and Mom went grocery shopping-not so fun-and then for a wagon ride with lots of stops and chances to walk around, touch trees and flowers and do things which we can't usually do so that was fun. Nan wouldn't pick who she was taking, of course, and I thought Kiley could use a break the most so Sydney will be next and if I know Nan it will be sooner than later!!

TROUBLE on the DOUBLE!!

The girls have been keeping us very busy lately! They are so close to walking that all they want to do is hold your fingers and walk ALL day. They are not good at taking turns so it means a few tears are being shed around here these days. Thank goodness Dave is on holidays this week and we have double the hands so they better figure it out on their own quickly....or maybe not, come to think of it, we will be running in circles when that happens!!

Tupperware...fun stuff! (Anything to distract them from walking for a few minutes :)

Sydney trying to figure out how to open the window

Move on over Kiera-here comes Kiley

Kiera is not impressed with this new bed sharing deal

Waiting for Dad to come in from the garage to pull them around

Into the dish towels

I'll take the next picture Mom

Into shoes already-Uh oh

Kiley "trying" on her new shirt from Nan

We had to take the bottom drawers out of their change table as they were always pinching their fingers. Now they love to sit underneath it-especially Kiley

She loves to sit in any little nook or raised up place that she can

She loves to sit in the corner of the stair too

Let us OUT!!
